A brush fire that broke out Saturday afternoon near the border of Murrieta and Wildomar was quickly contained, a fire official said.
Three engine crews responded to the blaze that was reported at 12:25 p.m. at Palomar Street and Starbuck Circle in Wildomar, said Melody Hendrickson, spokeswoman for CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department.
Firefighters promptly gained control of the blaze, keeping it at less than half of an acre, Hendrickson said.
Crews remained on scene until about 2 p.m., the spokeswoman said.
The cause of the vegetation fire remained under investigation, she said.
A local photographer captured photos of the firefighting effort and submitted them to Patch.
A number of citizens called to report the blaze, Hendrickson said.
