CHP: Driver Detained in Deadly High Speed Corona Crash

The California Highway Patrol detained the driver of a black sedan that struck a silver sedan on the Ontario (15) Freeway in Corona this weekend causing it to burst into flames, killing at least one person who was trapped inside, according to a CHP statement.

The crash was reported at 1:20 a.m. Sunday on the southbound Ontario Freeway north of the Riverside (91) Freeway, according to the CHP.

A witness said one vehicle was moving at 120 mph before the collision, the statement said.

The silver sedan, believed to have been a Toyota, reportedly burst into flames and the CHP was advised there was possibly someone trapped inside the fully engulfed vehicle, according to the CHP.

The driver of the black sedan was detained at the scene, the statement said.

The CHP issued a SigAlert for the southbound Ontario Freeway north of the Riverside Freeway.
