CHP Seeks Leads In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash

Today, the CHP asked local media outlets to republish news about the fatal crash in hopes of gaining new leads in the case.

The CHP says it has few leads in a fatal hit-and-run crash, so today the agency put out a plea to local residents to help track down new information.

As Patch reported on Oct. 4, Temecula resident Douglas O’Husky, 53, was killed after a red 1999 Hyundai Accent he was driving on the I-215 was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Menifee.

According to a CHP report from Officer Nathan Baer, around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 4 O’Husky’s car was hit from behind as he traveled north on the freeway, just south of Newport Road.

O'Husky was driving in the number two lane when he was struck. He lost control of the Accent, overturned, and was ejected, Baer reported. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

According to the report, the hit-and-run driver fled north on the I-215 and has not been identified; there is no word on the make or model of the suspect vehicle.

Today, Baer sent an email to local media outlets asking to repost news about the fatal crash in hopes of gaining new leads in the case.

The crash is being investigated as a felony hit and run. Anyone who may have information is asked to call the California Highway Patrol Temecula Area office at (951) 506-2000.
