Corona Police Say Woman Dumped Newborn Baby in Trash Bin

Police say the woman said the baby was dead when born.

An investigation was underway Wednesday into the death of a newborn child dumped in a trash bin near the home of a Corona woman who admitted giving birth to the girl but insisted she was stillborn.

According to Corona police, officers were summoned to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Riverside around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after a woman showed up seeking treatment for undisclosed injuries related to a possible childbirth.

The 24-year-old woman acknowledged having a baby that morning at her home, but said the child was dead, according to Detective Chris Espinoza.
