Coroner IDs Woman Killed By Hit-And-Driver

As an investigation continues into the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Perris, the coroner has released her identification.

According the Riverside County coroner's office, Cynthia Rallo, 40, was struck about 2 a.m. Dec. 11 on Cajalco Road, just west of Seaton Avenue.

A vehicle -- likely a Subaru -- was traveling east on Cajalco and the woman was walking on the eastbound side of the roadway, according to a report from California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Monks, who said the deceased may have been a transient.

Online posts identify Rallo as a Perris resident and they dispute that she was a transient. Sheriff's Sgt. Townsend of the coroner's office said officials could not identify her residence.

However, the search for her suspected killer continues.

"For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the female pedestrian and the vehicle did not stop, as required by law, and fled the scene," Monks reported following the incident.

A passing motorist spotted the woman lying in the roadway, in the eastbound lane, and called 911, he continued.

Monks said it was not immediately clear whether the woman was walking along the shoulder of Cajalco or in traffic lanes when she was hit.

"We don't know if the person who hit her swerved toward her, or she stepped in front of them," Monks said.

Rallo may have been struck by more than one vehicle before she was found, according to authorities. The area is sparsely populated, with vacant lots on all but one corner.

Monks said investigators found vehicle parts scattered nearby that detached from a Subaru, apparently during impact with the victim.

"The hit-and-run vehicle is missing underbody plastic parts with 'Subaru' imprinted on them," Monks stated in a report.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to call CHP investigating Officer G. Marroquin at 951-637-8000.

"If you were in or around the area at approximately 1:59 A.M. or have information about the vehicle, no matter how minor it may be, please contact [us]," Monks said.
