A crash on State Route 74 that clogged traffic Friday claimed one life, authorities are reporting.

The crash involving a dump truck and two passenger vehicles was reported just before 5 p.m. on the busy highway near Spring Street, east of the 15 Freeway in unincorporated area, just outside Lake Elsinore, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

The person was killed in the crash, Hagemann said shortly after the incident was reported. At press time, the identity of the victim has not been released by the coroner’s office.

One other person was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and another person walked away from the crash unharmed; there were no other victims, Hagemann reported.

Officials remained on scene for several hours. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
