Area girl scouts are having a tough cookie season.

First, a Temecula girl scout was allegedly assaulted as she knocked on a man's door to sell the famous cookies.  Now, someone is apparently buying up batches with fake currency.

Riverside County Sheriff's Officials report that on Feb. 27, they responded to a report of fraud in the area of Lakeshore and Riverside drives.

"During the course of the investigation, the officers learned that unknown suspect(s) had made several purchases of Girl Scout cookies with counterfeit currency," Sheriff's Spokesman Deputy Albert Martinez said.

Law enforcement officers searched the area, but couldn't find any suspects, he added.

Since then, they've identified at least one person of interest who was caught on a camera and hope that someone may recognize the woman.

"Investigators assigned to the Lake Elsinore Police Department continued the investigation and discovered a person of interest in this case was captured on close circuit surveillance cameras," Martinez said.  "Investigators are reaching out to the public for assistance with the identification of the person."

Anyone with information concerning this crime is encouraged to contact Investigator Carranza at the Lake Elsinore Station at (951) 245-3300.

Stop hating on the girl scouts, it's not all about you. Yes tweakers love passing fake currency and love sitting in circles passing their pipes.

Mr. Dean I am making a safe assumption that you are commenting on my comment … I am conservative and agree with free enterprise; however I do not agree with using kids to push a product ….
