Dead Woman's Identity Released By Authorities; Cause Of Death Still Pending

The body of Stacy Lee Ortiz, 36, was found April 21. She was a resident of French Valley.

on the side of the road at the intersection of Winchester and Scott roads April 21 has been identified.

The woman, Stacy Lee Ortiz, 36, was a resident of French Valley, said Sgt. Herman Lopez of the Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit, in a news release Monday.

Her identification was confirmed Saturday when Lopez said photographs and fingerprints of the deceased woman were compared with those of a woman who was reported by friends and family as missing.

The cause of death is still pending. No official has been released.

"The investigation into her death continues and investigators will continue to follow up on several calls received from the public," Lopez said.
