Deputies Find Pot and Firearms During Domestic Violence Investigation

A Lake Elsinore man was arrested Friday night after his wife said he assaulted her.

Deputies responding to a domestic violence call Friday night arrested a 53-year-old Lake Elsinore man after finding several jars of marijuana and concentrated cannabis, as well as firearms and ammunition, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Antonio Garcia Gonzalez was detained around 8 p.m. after his wife reported that he had assaulted her and was possibly armed, according to Sgt. David Cardoza. Deputies detained Gonzalez at the residence in the 18000 block of Dexter Avenue and arrested him after it was determined that he had physically abused his wife, according to Cardoza.

While they were at the house, deputies confiscated five rifles, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, storage jars containing marijuana and concentrated cannabis, digital scales, drug paraphernalia and $700 in cash, according to Cardoza.

Gonzalez was arrested for spousal abuse and possession of marijuana for sale and booked into the Southwest Detention Center.

Hmmm... I wonder if deputies are going to auction off his hoard of pot and weapons to the highest bidder? I'll start the bidding at $1.

Guns always get crushed. Some PD in some rural part of the country tried selling confiscated guns, but it drew too much criticism they stopped and went back to crushing them. They used to dump them at sea off LA with it being a big press event. As for the pod. No I don't think so.

Thanks for the info, Reverend. I appreciate it.

And according to the map, this is all happening across the street from Temescal High. Three sniper rifles, a 12 gauge pump, enough ammo, and what appears to be all the inventory needed to operate a "medical marijuana dispensary". See all the packaged "consumables". That's candy and crap with pot mixed in. This guy wasn't making this. He had a supply pipeline steadily feeding him this. It would be interesting to know how long this snipers nest and pot emporium has been operating across from the high school. Riverside County Sheriffs need to bestow a commendation upon the wife for accomplishing what their drug task force failed.

"And according to the map, this is all happening across the street from Temescal High." That's very disconcerting, Reverend. Can't help but wonder whether this fellow had a legitimate need for medical marijuana, or if he was dealing it to high school kids. Also, if I remember correctly, there's a relatively new law prohibiting someone who has a medical marijuana card from legally owning guns. (I recall something like this, though I'm not positive.)

There are at least 35 jars of buds in the photo. The sizes of the jars appears to go from pint to gallon. This is much more than almost anyone even could smoke or ingest in a year. That and the packaged paraphernalia make it an obvious selling operation. Judging from the suspect's full name, I suspect he's either a Mexican national or very recently amnestied or gained citizenship. If he knows anything about the gun laws, they're just a form of humorous amusement to him.

The haul photo is very poor resolution. But I downloaded it and zoomed in and the bottom two rifles are bolt-action and scope topped. The second one up has the action open so I can see it's a fairly large bolt - not a bolt of a 22RF. These two are probably far better sniper rifles than Oswald used on JFK (bring on the conspiracy theories). I am not going to debate the start of the art of precision ultra-long-range shooting platforms. But if anyone wanted to take on unarmed high school kids across the street, even the 22RF, which the top two appear to be, would suffice.

nope. They plan on keeping it for their own use to wind down and relax after a hard day of chasing meth users. LOL

It was the wifes pot and guns. Thats what the hubby should say and thats why he had to smack her around to knock some sense in to her. That way they both can get a room at the gray bar hotel. Gee I wonder how long they will be still married after all the charges get piled up. Because ya know they will charge her also with possession.

From the looks of all the pot and guns shown in the picture I think they were getting ready to have a yard sale. Thats probably what led to the domestic dispute. Well they won't have to argue about wheather to call it a yard sale or estate sale now because the house and the yard will be soon called a Sheriffs sale after they confiscate the property for narcotics sales within 1000 feet of a school. I wonder what Mr. Gonzalez will be getting the little wife for Valentines day this year after he gets done adding up all the charges he's facing. I bet it won't be a new cell phone thats for sure. LOL
