Deputies Spot Pot-Growing Operation "In Plain View," Then Find Cockfighting Roosters
Sheriff's officials say approximately 300 marijuana plants were found at a property in the unincorporated area of Meadowbrook.
Three men were behind bars Tuesday for allegedly growing marijuana at a residence where several hundred pot plants were found.
Perris residents Juan Serrano Hernandez, 50, and Daniel Parada Villasenor, 26, and Corona resident Jose Manuel Rosales, 19, were arrested about 5:40 a.m. Monday in the 22000 block of Shaw Court in an unincorporated area of Riverside County known as Meadowbrook.
"While on patrol, the deputies observed a residence which had numerous marijuana plants in plain view," sheriff's Cpl. Mike Fraker said of the discovery.

When they searched the property, deputies found areas with "numerous plants in different stages of growth, and the subjects were attempting to conceal the plants using makeshift plastic walls," Fraker said.
About 300 cannabis plants were seized, along with items such as packaging and scales, he said.

Deputies also found 18 roosters used for illegal cockfighting, and Riverside County Animal Control officers took charge of the birds, the corporal said.
Hernandez, Villasenor and Rosales were booked into the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta.
