Domestic Violence Incident Turns Suicidal

Rob Azad, 59, was found dead Saturday afternoon inside his Ingram Drive home in Corona.

Coroner's officials identified the Corona man who fired gunshots at his wife and then took his own life during a tense standoff with officers.

Rob Azad, 59, was found dead Saturday afternoon inside his Ingram Drive home in Corona where he barricaded himself and kept SWAT team members and other officers at bay for several hours.

Police said Azad had chased his wife out and fired a number of shots at her, before returning to his home in a gated community. The woman escaped injury as she took refuge in a neighbor's home.

Corona police arrived after the initial 10:35 a.m. gunfire. The time of death was listed by the Riverside County Coroner's Office as 4:20 p.m.
