The driver escaped injury, but the utility pole was severely damaged. The outage affected an undisclosed number of businesses and homes. The eastbound lane of Clinton Keith Road between Smith Ranch Road and Covington Drive was closed to traffic until early today to allow Southern California Edison workers to make repairs, Cardoza said.

Drunk driving does not appear to have played a role in the crash, Cardoza said.
