UPDATE at 8:19 a.m.: The driver who became trapped after veering off the 15 Freeway at the Lake Elsinore/Wildomar line has been rescued by firefighters.
The driver, whose identity was not released, was extricated from an SUV at approximately 7:48 a.m. Tuesday and transported to an area hospital via ground ambulance with minor to moderate injuries, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.
During the rescue, one firefighter sustained minor injuries and is being transported to a hospital, Hagemann stated.
ORIGINAL POST: Firefighters are on scene of a solo-vehicle crash near the Wildomar/Lake Elsinore line, working to free a driver who became trapped.
The incident was reported just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann, the motorist driving an SUV was traveling south on the 15 Freeway, south of Railroad Canyon Road, and left the roadway for unknown reasons.
“The vehicle is approximately 30 feet over the embankment with the driver trapped,” Hagemann reported.
The SUV landed near Elberta Road, according to Hagemann’s report, which is in Wildomar.
