A man has been arrested in conjunction with Sunday’s fatal motorcycle crash in Wildomar.

Jose Lujan, 30, of Vista, was detained at the scene and subsequently arrested for allegedly driving a silver pickup under the influence of alcohol and gross vehicular manslaughter, said Sgt. Steve de la Vara of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

According to de la Vara, deputies responded to the crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck around 3:15 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Clinton Keith Road and Palomar Street.

Waleed Kahalil, 46, who manages the 24-hour Bear Valley Ranch Market on Clinton Keith and Palomar, said he became alarmed when the noise of the crash reached him.

“I heard the crash and went outside right away,” Kahalil said. “I ran all the way to the accident site … and saw the man shaking on the ground.”

According to Kahalil, motorists immediately got out of their vehicles and began directing traffic, while two men -- one identified himself as a paramedic and the other as a firefighter -- began CPR on the victim.

“He was in bad shape," said Kahalil, shaking his head.

The wreckage and subsequent investigation forced the closure of Clinton Keith Road at Palomar Street for hours.

Kahalil said most of the businesses near his closed for the day once sheriff's deputies closed off the street. –Mirna Alfonso and Maggie Avants contributed to this report.
