DUI Checkpoint in Lake Elsinore Nets Five Arrests

Two people were arrested for undisclosed felonies and 25 drivers were cited for being unlicensed or driving with a suspended license.

Five motorists were arrested for alleged drunken driving during an overnight sobriety checkpoint along Highway 74 in Lake Elsinore, a sergeant said today.

Sheriff's deputies set up the checkpoint at 7 p.m. Friday at the El Toro cutoff and ended it at 2 a.m. A total of 986 vehicles passed through the checkpoint, and 37 of them were screened, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Peter Giannakakos said.

Fifteen drivers were given field sobriety tests and five of them flunked and arrested for suspicion of drunken driving, Giannakakos said. They were idntified as Kimberly Golgart, 38, of Lake Elsinore, Nemesiss Venagas 24, of Perris, Donald Lee Jordan, 23, of Perris, Eric Keller, 26, Lake Elsinore and Rodolfo Jimenez, 56, of Menifee.
