Evacuations Ordered In Temescal Valley Due To Underground Fire

The blaze took approximately two hours to contain.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department is reporting that an underground fire caused evacuations Tuesday afternoon in Temescal Valley.

According to the report, firefighters were called to the 24600 block of Glen Ivy Road at 1:49 p.m. regarding an underground electrical vault fire. 

The Southern California Edison vaults are used to house underground equipment.  

During Tuesday's incident, approximately five RVs were evacuated in the area as a precaution, according to the report.

Southern California Edison was on-scene assessing the situation and no injuries were reported. Thirteen firefighters and four engines were called to the incident, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department report.

At 3:39 p.m., the fire was contained and residents were able to return to their RVs.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
