Fatal Collision Between Truck and Motorcycle Closes Ortega Highway

Route 74 was reopened at 12:55 p.m.

A motorcyclist was apparently killed when his cycle and a truck crashed head-on on the Ortega Highway Saturday, closing Route 74 between Orange and Riverside counties.

The collision was reported at 10:55 a.m. for the wreck, near the Candy Store and the county line, according to the CHP. That location is about 20 miles east of San Juan Capistrano, in an area notorious for deadly motorcycle crashes.

The rider was reported to be still and under the truck, witnesses told the CHP.

Caltrans reported the Ortega Highway, Route 74, was reopened at 12:55 p.m. The road between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore was closed more than one hour for a fatal motorcycle crash.

@Kristian Fajardo it is very sad and sorry for your hurting heart… It is just the fact that someone jeopardized his and the public safety for his own trills …

Julian you are one to talk. People in glass houses should not throw stones.

It amazes me at how heartless and disrespectful some people can be AKA AlwaysPO'd. It's obvious that you lead a sad life and it makes me so sad for you. I hope you are enjoying the attention that you are so desperately seeking. The loss of a life is always heartbreaking. It is amazing to read about the good samaritans who tried to help Adrian, I know his family and friends will forever be thankful for that. I'm praying for his family, friends, and everyone else who was affected by this horrible tragedy. Rest in Paradise Adrian.

Sorry Marcy, but the man gambled and lost. Tragic yes, but don't blame those, who see this play out all too often, for speaking the truth. No other thought was in this guy's head but the thrill. I see this as nothing more than Russian roulette. Again, sad for those who have to bury him, but he chose this. His actions caused this, no other. When someone's actions affect complete strangers' lives in such a deep emotional way, it shows an enormous lack of respect to society. He put others' lives in jeopardy, Marcy. No matter how nice a guy he was, others will now possibly be changed for their lives due to his thoughtlessness. Last time, I feel bad for anyone perishing in this manner, but stop ignoring the real problem here. Blame the real cause of your anger.
