FBI Seeks Public's Help In Finding 'Luger Bandit'

The Luger Bandit is suspected in at least five robberies throughout Southern California, including Corona.

A $15,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the capture of a bank robber known as the "Luger Bandit," it was announced today.

According to the FBI, the suspect has been involved in at least five robberies throughout Southern California, including Corona.

In each holdup, the masked gunman brandishes a silver pistol resembling a German-made Luger and orders bank employees and customers to the floor, the FBI said.

The bandit has struck at Bank of America, Chase and Wells Fargo branches in Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Bank of America and Wells Fargo are putting up the reward money.

According to the FBI, the robberies occurred at the following locations:

-- Granada Hills, Jan. 3;

-- Fontana, Feb. 18;

-- San Dimas, March 8;

-- Jurupa Valley, March 12; and

-- Corona, June 4.

The bandit was described as white or Hispanic, 30 to 40 years old, 5- foot-8 to six feet tall and about 200 pounds.

He was seen driving a charcoal gray BMW 3-series with a sports package, according to the FBI.
