Fire Breaks Out At Camp Pendleton

The blaze was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

A wildland fire is burning at Camp Pendleton and Cal Fire is advising Southwest Riverside County residents that drift smoke may be visible.

The western edges of Temecula, Murrieta, Wildomar and Lake Elsinore are most susceptible to the drift.

The blaze was reported at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a part of the base known as the Whiskey Impact Area, generally located in the center of Camp Pendleton.

There is no immediate threat to structures and no injuries have been reported, according to base officials.

Camp Pendleton fire crews have jurisdiction over the blaze.

There is no word on what sparked the fire.
