The blaze is part of a prescribed burn program in the area that was ongoing last week.

Smoke rising up in the Cleveland National Forest west of Lake Elsinore is due to a controlled burn today, a U.S. Forest official confirmed.

Division Chief Gordon Martin said a five-acre blaze in the Decker Canyon area adjacent to El Cariso Village is a prescribed burn that is only expected to last through today.

"We don't expect it to go into tomorrow. It could, but we don't expect that," he said.
