Gang Sweep In Lake Elsinore, Perris Area Nets More Than 30 Arrests

The early morning sweep targeted a prominent gang tied to the Lake Elsinore/Perris area.

The Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station assisted in a gang sweep Thursday morning that resulted in multiple arrests.

According to a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department news release, the 7 a.m. sweep targeted a prominent gang tied to the Lake Elsinore/Perris area.

“The criminal street gang was recently involved in a running gun battle in a family neighborhood, a witness intimidation case and other violent felonies,” the news release stated.

The sweep and associated investigations resulted in:

  • 36 parole and probation compliance searches;
  • 34 gang members arrested and seven outstanding arrest warrants;
  • more than 25 custodial searches within numerous custodial facilities throughout the state of California.

The lead agency on the sweep was the Riverside County Gang Task Force, with assistance from the Lake Elsinore and Perris police departments.

According to the news release, there are over 300 documented gangs in Riverside County.
