HOMELAND: Pedestrian Dies When Struck by Car on Hwy 74

The crash was reported at 6:28 p.m. on Highway 74 at Juniper Flats Road, according to CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department Spokesman Mark Annas.

A pedestrian who was hit by a car Monday evening on Highway 74 in Homeland died at the scene, a fire official reported.

The crash was reported at 6:28 p.m. on Highway 74 at Juniper Flats Road, according to CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department Spokesman Mark Annas.

Several agencies including California Highway Patrol, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside County Fire Office of Emergency Management, responded to the crash site just east of Romoland and west of Hemet.

CHP reported that the center turning lanes were blocked at the scene of the incident, but that one lane in each direction remained open to through traffic.

The Riverside County coroner's office confirmed the deceased was a 51-year-old man who lived in Homeland, although his identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
