Firefighters were sent to rescue a stranded female hiker today near Corona, a fire official reported.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to the corner of Rawley Street and Burrero Way, which sits west of the Skyline Trail summit west of Corona, in search of the hiker, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas reported.

A helicopter was used in the search and the hoist-rescue of the woman, Annas reported. The aircraft then transferred her to a ground ambulance where she was then transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, Annas continued.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, American Medical Response, City of Corona Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service all coordinated on the rescue effort, according to Annas.

The woman's identity was not released.
