Injured Female Hiker Hoisted From Local Foothills

A helicopter was used in the search and hoist-rescue of the woman.

Firefighters were sent to rescue a stranded female hiker today near Corona, a fire official reported.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday to the corner of Rawley Street and Burrero Way, which sits west of the Skyline Trail summit west of Corona, in search of the hiker, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas reported.

A helicopter was used in the search and the hoist-rescue of the woman, Annas reported. The aircraft then transferred her to a ground ambulance where she was then transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, Annas continued.
