A red truck was demolished in the wreckage, and a white Isuzu flatbed truck with a “California Glass Block Ltd.” logo also sustained damage.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Keene, the flatbed’s driver was heading eastbound on SR 74 and attempted to make a left-hand turn into a nearby business but failed to yield to the oncoming red truck.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in Friday night’s crash, Keene said.

The road closure is expected to be lifted by 10 p.m.

Friday’s crash marks the beginning of what could be a long holiday weekend for first responders.

Hazelaar asked local motorists to take extra precautions.

“Be vigilant and watch out for unsafe drivers,” he said. --Daniel Lane contributed to this report
