The fire was reported at 3:34 p.m. in open space land between Lake Street and Nichols Road, on the east side of the 15 Freeway.
Seven engines and 53 firefighters were on scene to knock the blaze down in less than 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
The fire was contained at a half acre.
