Hanley came out of the trailer armed with a shotgun and was ordered to put the weapon down, the report stated.

“The suspect raised the shotgun in a threatening manner toward the deputies, refusing orders to put the weapon down,” the report stated.

Hanley fired one round in the direction of the deputies, and gunfire was returned, the report continued.

“The deputies immediately rendered first aid to the suspect and summoned the response of Cal Fire and American Medical Response ambulance service to the location. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,” according to the report.

Other than Hanley, police reported no other injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and the deputies involved in the shooting were placed on paid administrative leave per department policy, according to the report.
