Lake Elsinore DUI Crackdown Nets Seven Arrests

"If you drive drunk, the Lake Elsinore Police Department will be looking for you," said Sgt. Marc Cloutier, Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Seven people were arrested Saturday night at a Lake Elsinore DUI checkpoint, police say.

Officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department conducted the checkpoint as part of an effort to “crack down on drunk driving, improve traffic safety, save lives and prevent injuries,” according to a report from Sgt. Marc Cloutier, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Arrested during the operation for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs:

  • Shelly Lowe, 44, of Corona
  • Cindy Woods, 55, of Menifee
  • Nicholas Lewis, 24, of Corona
  • Manual Cara, 31, of Lake Elsinore
  • Michael Cantrell, 20, of Riverside
  • Jeremiah Villegas, 21, of Lake Elsinore
  • Mathew Schroeder, 28, of Lake Elsinore was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor DUI warrant.

Additionally, 14 drivers were given field sobriety tests, eight were cited for various vehicle code violations, 23 were cited for driving on suspended or expired licenses. Seventeen vehicles were subsequently towed, according to the sergeant’s report.

"If you drive drunk, the Lake Elsinore Police Department will be looking for you. The Department's message is very simple. Over the limit, under arrest,” Sgt. Cloutier said in the report.
