Lake Elsinore Man Arrested For Alleged Kidnapping, Terrorist Threats

A Lake Elsinore man has been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, terrorist threats, child abuse and domestic violence, police are reporting today.

Samuel Lopez, 32, was taken into custody Monday after an investigation that spanned two counties.

The investigative work began shortly after noon July 9 when deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Department got a domestic violence report.

“Officers determined a female victim was held against her will over the last several days by Samuel Lopez …,” according to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Police Department. “A male roommate was also present and was detained by Lopez.”

The incident allegedly took place in the 32600 block of San Lucas, the news release stated.

Both victims and a child were able to slip away and report the alleged abuse to police, according to the release, but the incident escalated when detectives learned Lopez was allegedly in possession of an explosive device inside the residence.

As the investigation continued, police found Lopez in Fullerton and tailed him to Corona where he was taken into custody without further incident, the news release stated.

Meanwhile, a search warrant was served at the San Lucas residence. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department Hazardous Device Team found a device inside the home that was rendered safe, according to the news release.
