A Lake Elsinore man is facing arson charges, after fire crews determined he set his mom's house on fire, Riverside County Fire Officials say.
According to Department Spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson, 31-year-old Luis Angel Munoz Perez allegedly set a residential structure fire in the 25300 block of Marie Street around 4:48 p.m. Thursday.
Firefighters quickly got a handle on the fire, containing it to a non-operational bathroom, she said.
"Investigators identified an origin and cause and interviewed Luis Angel Munoz Perez, who admitted intentionally starting the fire," Hendrickson said in a news release.
The man was taken to the Murrieta jail, where he was booked on felony arson charges, according to jail records. He remained locked up on $50,000 bail as of Friday afternoon, records indicated.
The house is owned by the man's mother, but he lives there, Hendrickson said.
