Lake Elsinore Man Killed In Crash

The crash was reported at 1:10 a.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway in Corona.

The coroner’s office is reporting that a Lake Elsinore man has died as a result of injuries sustained in an early morning crash on the 15 Freeway.

The 40-year-old man, whose name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday at 1:32 a.m., according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported just moments before at 1:10 a.m. on the southbound 15 Freeway, approximately 290 feet south of Old Temescal Road in Corona.

According to the coroner’s report, the man was driving an SUV at a “high rate of speed” when he struck a sedan, lost control and rolled down an embankment. He was ejected from the SUV and was found in a drainage ditch.

No other injuries were immediately reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
