Seven citations for driving without a valid license were also issued during the patrol and six vehicles were impounded during the operation, according to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Police Department.
This saturation patrol was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in the city, according to the department.
“The goal of the saturation patrol was to raise public awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and remove impaired and suspended drivers from the roadway,” the news release read. “The Lake Elsinore Police Department is committed to working aggressively to reduce the incidence of needless tragedy that accompanies any alcohol related collision.”
The saturation patrol was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the news release.
