Lake Elsinore Police Nab Man in Stolen Mail Truck

Police say the vehicle had been taken from a Murrieta postal facility.

An Orange County man is suspected of stealing a mail carrier truck from Southwest Riverside County this week.

Lake Elsinore Police Lieutenant Zachary Hall says Shawn Beverly was spotted in a marked United States Postal vehicle around 3 a.m. in the area of Oriole Court and Linnet Drive, which is near Highway 74 and Lincoln Street.

"Due to the time, the officer conducted an investigative enforcement stop and questioned the non-uniformed driver," Hall said.

"The investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen early in the evening (March 12, 2014) from a postal facility in the city of Murrieta," Hall added.

Beverly, 43, was arrested on vehicle theft charges and taken to the Murrieta jail.  He was being held on $5,000 bail, jail records indicated.
