Lake Elsinore Police To Conduct Traffic Crackdowns As School Starts Aug. 14

"The primary goal of traffic enforcement is to provide a safe environment for all students and keep school zones safe for pedestrians and cyclists."

The Lake Elsinore Unified School District starts its 2013/14 school year on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, and the Lake Elsinore Police Department is advising local motorists it will be cracking down to ensure student safety around campuses.

Working in conjunction with the school district, the Lake Elsinore Police Department will be enforcing traffic safety at all school sites in the city of Lake Elsinore, an announcement from the sheriff’s department read.

“The primary goal of traffic enforcement is to provide a safe environment for all students and keep school zones safe for pedestrians and cyclists,” the statement continued.

All drivers responsible for transporting students to and from school are encouraged to plan accordingly. Refer to the Lake Elsinore Unified School District's website for bell schedules and allow ample time for drop-off and pick-up in school safety zones, the statement continued.

  • excessive speed in violation of posted school speed limits,
  • unlawful turning movements such U-Turns when prohibited,
  • and failure to adhere to crossing guards.

Additionally, drivers are encouraged to visit the California Department of Motor-vehicle website at www.dmv.ca.gov regarding child restraint safety and laws.
