A 27-year-old Lake Elsinore man suspected of stabbing a guest at a house party was behind bars in lieu of $1 million bail Sunday, officials said.
Joseph Andrew Arias was booked into the county lockup on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, causing great bodily injury, jail records indicate.
He remained in custody at the Southwest Detention Center, pending arraignment Wednesday at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
Arias was tracked down by investigators probing a stabbing that occurred during the early morning hours Saturday in the 16000 block of Pierce Avenue in Lake Elsinore, according to sheriff's Cpl. Cole Simon.
Deputies were called to a local hospital about 7:30 a.m. Saturday by hospital staff mandated to report stabbings and shootings.
The victim had been involved in a fight with another man at the party but after the fight was concluded, the suspect went into the house and retrieved a knife to attack the victim, Simon said.
The suspect was subdued by other guests but he quickly ran off and the victim was taken to the hospital, the corporal said.
