UPDATE: Lake Elsinore Sees Two Armed Robberies Monday Night

UPDATE 8:05 p.m.: According to Cpl. Courtney Donowho of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, some of the information provided by the department to Patch for this story was incorrect.

Earlier today the department reported to Patch that the suspect entered the Stater Bros. store and demanded cash while brandishing a handgun at a clerk. The story below has since been updated to reflect the correct facts as provided to Patch by the department. 

Lake Elsinore saw armed bandits strike two different locations in the city Monday night, although police believe the crimes are unrelated.

At about 11:20 p.m. Monday, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a call of an armed robbery at the Stater Bros. market located at 29995 Canyon Hills Road.

According to information deputies received at the scene, an adult male wearing a black ski mask robbed a store employee at gunpoint as the victim sat in his truck in the store's parking lot, according to Cpl. Courtney Donowho of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect then fled in a silver truck southbound from the location with an undisclosed amount of money, the corporal stated. No one was injured during the hold-up.

The robber remains at large and police are seeking the public’s help in finding him, Cpl. Donowho said.

The robbery follows one earlier Monday night in which an armed robber held up the AM-PM mini mart located at 250 Diamond Drive. That robber also made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. to read more about that robbery.
