Lake Elsinore Stabbing Victim was Talking on Cell Phone When Attacked

Authorities are searching for the unknown suspect in the Saturday morning assault.

A man was stabbed in his leg while talking on his cell phone at a Lake Elsinore street corner Saturday, a sheriff's corporal said.

The victim's wounds were noticed by emergency room workers, who called police at 10:56 a.m., Riverside County sheriff's Cpl. Joshua Morales said. He had been brought to the hospital following the attack at Machado Street and Grant Drive at about 10 a.m.

The victim did not know his attacker, who ran from scene, Morales said. The suspect was described as a Latino in his mid-20s with a thin goatee, 5-foot- 5 with a medium build, and in a flannel shirt and gray Dickie pants.

No motive was immediately known.

The victim's medical conditional was not released but Morales said the stab wound was not life threatening.
