Needy kids throughout the Lake Elsinore Unified School District received special visitors this weekend. Deputies and Explorers from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station delivered hundreds of toys to the kids’ homes Saturday as part of the Cops For Kids program.
About 95 families were visited Saturday, according to Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station Captain Dave Fontneau.
As part of the Cops for Kids program, today another 300 kids were invited to Lake Elsinore to pick out gifts and have breakfast with Santa, the captain explained.
according to Tom Thomas, Cops for Kids executive director.
The nonprofit Cops for Kids program has been helping needy kids since 1995 and is funded by local business sponsors and individuals in the community.
In addition to helping children, the program also benefits seniors. On Dec. 20, deputies from the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station and uniformed Explorers, as well as Cops for Kids board members, will be visiting local seniors’ homes to sing Christmas carols and bring gifts.
