The following is a news release from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department:

The City of Lake Elsinore Mayor Bob Magee, 1st District Supervisor Kevin Jeffries and Riverside County Fire Chief John R. Hawkins cordially invite you to attend the grand opening ceremony for the Rosetta Canyon Fire Station #97.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 9 am - noon at 41725 Rosetta Canyon Dr.

The fire station serves Lake Elsinore residents in the northeastern part of the City, including Highway 74 and the Central-Collier business district, and the county area east of the City limits. The new, state-of-the art facility is a three-apparatus bay, nine-person fire station that can expand to house 12 firefighters. The 8,097 square foot fire station will provide quicker response times, improved City coverage and an increased level of service to its residents, businesses and visitors including fires, medical emergencies, traffic accidents, and hazardous materials incidents.

The station is a Joint City/County station with joint funding for a fire engine and truck operation out of this facility. City of Lake Elsinore funded the cost to build the $3.36 million fire station. Riverside County funded a portion of the cost for furniture, fixtures and equipment, and the Quint Fire Truck. This is the first truck company put in service within the City of Lake Elsinore. In addition, the county will pay a portion of the staffing costs of the station.

“Public safety is our number one priority,” said Councilmember Brian Tisdale. “We are thrilled to finally be able to open this long-awaited fire station to fill a critical need for our community and residents.”

The Rosetta Canyon Fire Station is the fourth fire station in the City of Lake Elsinore. The other three are located in the old town district, McVicker Park and Canyon Hills.

Riverside County Fire Chief John R. Hawkins credits the Lake Elsinore City Council for their commitment to public safety and foresight in planning for future development. The City of Lake Elsinore contracts with CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department for fire protection. This regional, integrated, fire protection system provides comprehensive and cost-effective fire and emergency services.
