Lakeland Village Man Roughed Up After Fleeing Police

According to a Sept. 30 report from Sgt. Patrick J. Chavez of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, John Mejia, 22, got scuffed up by deputies Monday after he attempted to escape custody at the station.

Police had to use force to restrain a Lakeland Village man who allegedly became combative after he was taken into custody this week.

According to a Sept. 30 report from Sgt. Patrick J. Chavez of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station, John Mejia, 22, got scuffed up by deputies Monday after he attempted to escape custody at the station.

Deputies arrested Mejia earlier that day in the 18900 block of Janisse Lane in Lakeland Village for being under the influence of illegal drugs. According to Sgt. Chavez’s report, Mejia has a long history of drug abuse problems.

After being hauled into the station for processing and transport to Southwest Detention Center, Mejia broke free and briefly escaped, Sgt. Chavez reported.

Deputies chased the suspect into the Sheriff’s Station parking lot and “had to force him to the ground in order to keep him from escaping,” Sgt. Chavez reported. “During the struggle to escape, Mejia received injuries to his chin and lower extremities.”

He was transported to the Inland Valley Medical Center for a medical evaluation, the sergeant reported.

“At the hospital Mejia continued to display combative behavior with medical staff who were attempting to evaluate him,” Sgt. Chavez continued. “Mejia was ultimately admitted for further observation.”

Wow a little crazy in here! I guess to call someone a name while they are their deathbed is a little inconsiderate. But since I always try to believe law enforcement until any other REAL evidence comes out, I'm going to say: A- you shouldn't run from the police or try and break out of jail. Drugs make people do crazy things, including fight with the police. Also, with respect to Arts mother

Good luck to you "simple" and a word of caution dont call 911 for help or you will end up like this kid... he was at home when he was taken and beat the crap out of.... but "simple" keep watching the Disney channel... and you will find that glass slipper that fits... this is the real world and the real world has bad guys.. ask OC and LA if they too are not investigating... Cops gone wild... its no joke..
Roberto October 10, 2011 at 04:13 AM
The person put into a coma by the Police on this thread was NOT on drugs.
simple October 10, 2011 at 11:12 PM
Read the story about Art in the paper. So he rammed a police car in a stolen truck? Really? And a officer shot him. What would you expect? Maybe the cop should let Art run him over.
THE REAL Anita Drink October 11, 2011 at 01:46 AM
Art's Mom, If the paper is wrong, please fill us in on the correct facts.
Roberto October 11, 2011 at 01:49 AM
It's ok Arts Mom, I've been chatting with simple all day. He believes whatever da man sez. Simple, you cannot believe everything you read and everything you are told. Sometimes a paradigm shift happens.
Roberto October 11, 2011 at 01:51 AM
Arts Mom, I would not bother explaining or justifying yourself with these vultures.
rayne October 11, 2011 at 02:29 AM
Believe what u want but a higher power knows the truth... don't live in a Disney world. Check out the facts for yourself or be fearful for yourself, your bother, sister, mom, dad family member or friend could be next........ STOP THE VIOLENCE>>>>>> before it happens to you.... no one is free from injustice. No one is free from the cover up and lies.... beware...
Debra S October 11, 2011 at 03:11 AM
Injustice is everywhere. What happened in Fullerton should open our eyes to that fact.
Arts Mom October 11, 2011 at 03:59 AM
I don't need to,I saw with my own eyes.Thank god someone video taped the whole thing and gave it to me.
StopPlayinJudge October 11, 2011 at 05:22 AM
I am more than 110% that he was on drugs, which is more likely the reason why he got arrested and tried running. Also you should probably check out his drug and criminal background and you will find that he did this to himself. Scumbags causing drama for no reason. If you really want answers you should ask his family for the hospital report lets see how quick they are to post those facts. Ask his sister to provide those facts since she provided these. hahah damn tweakers and naive families, poor souls.
rayne October 11, 2011 at 12:18 PM
How is it you can be 110% sure... Were you there are you them... Some things are left better to lawyers to provide the evidenence to a jury. To ensure a cover-up does not take place. A scumbag to me is any bullies out numbering and out weighing another person beating someone down so bad they our on life support. If indeed he was escaping(which I find hard to believe in cuffs in a fenced police parking structure) It should not have taken the amount of violent force of 2 200 lb thugs to subdue a 130 lb kid who had no means of defending himself.
simple October 11, 2011 at 07:15 PM
I do believe what the man says! They wouldn't put those facts out there to get sued later and have you retards think there was a cover up. Love the picture put up of him too. He looks like a doper! Arts mom, if you had video that showed something else it would be out there and you'd be getting payed. On your way outa the trailer and into Tuscany Hill!
Arts Mom October 11, 2011 at 07:27 PM
OMG!! Lol you are so funny, wouldn't you like to see it? I don't live in a trailer, but if I did there would be nothing wrong with it.Why don't you grow up already. And that video wasn't made for money it was made for justice.I'm glad you liked Arts picture,I don't see anything wrong with it I see no drugs in his hand. Why don't you get a life.Your rude comments don't bother me at all.Keep feeding your black soul...
Roberto October 11, 2011 at 07:33 PM
Simple, You are a sick person. Obviously you just don't get it.
Arts Mom October 11, 2011 at 07:38 PM
It's okay what goes around comes around "IT" hasn't met Karma yet...
Roberto October 11, 2011 at 11:27 PM
I'm keep an eye on the FB site...Hopefully we will be ready to move forward someday soon. I have patience when it comes to getting these corrupt racist crooks.

@ everyone who is bickering over this... The truth is, YES he ran from the police, after they found NO evidence of ANY illegal substances in a urinalysis. He is personally and documented to have a deathly fear of needles, he ran because they were going to take his blood at the station. If it is documented that a man is in fear of his life over a needle, it seems to me running is an obvious outcome when threatened with one. As for the police saying he was combative at the hospital. His medical report states "The patient was seizing upon arrival." Having had MULTIPLE BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA INJURIES TO THE HEAD, it also states in his medical report that he had 1/4inch lacerations to the wrists from the hand cuffs. This can only suggest that these men enjoyed beating this man while he was down, in handcuffs and IN FEAR FOR HIS LIFE! He was immediately put into a drug induced coma at the hospital, and on life support. I do not know this man personally, however we do have some of the same close friends. It tears at my heart that he was treated with such violence and disregard for his very life. I am praying for him, his family and loved ones. Thank you for the comparison to the Kelly Thomas indecent in Fullerton... Neila I love you, your right we need to just keep the shit talking in our heads. I want to see more COMPASSION shown for those who are brutalized, and more JUSTICE served to the ones committing these acts of violence.
Heather Lee Spine October 12, 2011 at 09:52 PM
PlayinJudge.... If you really want people to Stop playing judge, maybe your first statement shouldn't be so judgmental. There were no drugs found in his system by the urinalysis done at the police station and again NONE found in his system at the hospital..... THOSE ARE THE FACTS. This young man was BRUTALLY BEATEN by the very people who are supposed to be PROTECTING him. That I am 110% sure of!
Elizabeth Jones October 15, 2011 at 05:08 PM
Simple, how about the "fact" they stated in their (riverside sheriff's) press release that he only sustained "injuries" to his lower extremeties (meaning legs) and chin, or that he was held for "observation." Yet, he had multiple life threatening injuries to his head and torso. He had a brain bleed, kidney failure, gi bleed, and a collapsed lung, all as a result of the trauma he received. So happily he has made a huge turn for the better, although he still has a long road ahead of him to get back as close to normal as he can, if he can. sheriff's press release http://www.riversidesheriff.org/press/lak11-0926.asp
Mr. Lada January 06, 2012 at 04:18 PM
He's been arrested again for pretty much the same thing last night... totally drugged out and resisting arrest. I guess he had recovered enough from his 'life threatening injuries' to get back out on the streets again... what a loser.
BLUESGUITAR777 January 06, 2012 at 04:49 PM
Wow, reminds me of my OCR blogging days with all this drama. Calm down people. It's Friday!!! :o)
THE REAL Anita Drink January 06, 2012 at 08:16 PM
Lock him up this time! Get him off the streets as we don't need any more of his kind around here. His friend posted above "he still has a long road ahead of him to get back as close to normal as he can, if he can." Looks like he has gotten back to his own brand of normal as he's out on the streets doing his crazy druggie thing once again. What do his friends have to say about him now?
Roberto January 06, 2012 at 10:34 PM
On life support from a police beating? Typical Rail Road County
fred smith January 06, 2012 at 10:37 PM
king you are a lake elsinore/riverside sheriff who works out of the lake elsinore police station right. come on confess aren't you proud of that fact? were you there when john was beat almost to death? nobody should listen to anything you have to say you and your kind are way worst than any drug user alive. you guys beat anybody you want on any day you wake up in a bad mood and never answer to it but one day you are going to be dead and than you will have to answer. bummer for you
MD January 06, 2012 at 11:55 PM
Oh, I'm sure he'll live to resist arrest another day...Oh wait. He did last night! Ha ha ha!!!
rayne January 07, 2012 at 12:47 AM
Just would be curious to know who mr. lado really is... Probably the cop who beat him up the first time... and now is taking any revenge to avoid the lawsuit... He has a seizure alert band on he now has to wear after the last beating... I was not there just saying.... tell your kids do not call 911
Badangel December 05, 2012 at 01:35 AM
So, I suppose if you try to fight the police you should allowed to beat up a cop or cops. Escape, resisting, combative.....hope he gets his dumb ass beat every time he gets stupid! I'll bet your song would be different if it we're you getting slapped around by this clown.....If you feel so bad for him, go bail him out and keep him under your wing and when he gets waisted and starts kicking your ass and see how sorry you feel for him then.
Badangel December 05, 2012 at 01:55 AM
130 pounds or not, his resistance is what caused his trip to the hospital. He's done it before and he's still stupid...
Badangel December 05, 2012 at 02:07 AM
How about holding Mijia responsible for his outcome......get off the race card ..Is that the last resort of your justification for his ass getting kicked? Oh, he's hispanic thats why he got stomped on....give it a brake The whole thing is about a guy who got kicked stupid for being stupid..!
