Three people who made headlines earlier last week in connection with a $1 million metal theft case are in the news again.

This time for alleged possession of a deadly weapon and being under the influence of a controlled substance in unincorporated area outside Lake Elsinore.

Thursday around 7 p.m. a deputy was patrolling the 14900 block of Concordia Ranch Road, near Temescal Canyon Road and the 15 Freeway, and noticed a white full-size Chevrolet truck with a long flatbed trailer parked by the gate of a vacant residence.

The deputy was familiar with the spot. On Sunday, three arrests were made there in connection with a felony vandalism and metal theft case. (to read full story here.)

Using binoculars to get a better look at the situation from a distance, the deputy ran the trailer license plate number and discovered it had been impounded in connection with Sunday’s investigation.

Deputies moved in on the truck and found Kris Elliot, 55, of Murrieta inside. He had been arrested Sunday, along with two others in connection with the case, but he had made bail.

Also in the truck were Hemet residents Nichole Gimple, 28, and Malinda Taylor, 46. They were both cited Sunday during the metal theft arrests, but were released.

During Thursday night’s investigation, deputies found Elliot in possession of a dangerous weapon and Gimple and Taylor under the influence of a controlled substance, according to a Lake Elsinore Police Department report.

Elliot was booked into the Southwest detention Center for 12020(a)(1) PC, possession of a dangerous weapon, and 12022.1(a)(1) PC, committing a crime while on bail.

This time around, he’s being held on $20,000 bail.

Gimple and Taylor were booked into the Southwest Detention Center for 11550 H/S, under the influence of a controlled substance.
