Man Arrested in Lakeland Village Burglary Could Be Tied to More

David Michael Sare, 36, was taken into custody after allegedly attempting to flee the scene of a burglary on Applewood Way Monday in Lakeland Village.

A Lake Elsinore man who was arrested Monday on suspicion of burglarizing a home may be tied to other recent burglaries, authorities said.

David Michael Sare, 36, was taken into custody after deputies were dispatched at about 12:33 p.m. to check on a house alarm in the 18500 block of Applewood Way in Lakeland Village, sheriff's Sgt. Ken Chaffin said in a news release.

"Moments later, officers arrived on scene and observed a suspicious vehicle parked nearby," Chaffin said. "A check of Department of Motor Vehicle records revealed the vehicle was recently reported stolen. A handgun was also located inside."

Believing the suspect or suspects may possibly be armed, the sergeant said additional deputies were dispatched to the scene and a perimeter established.

While deputies waited for back up, Chaffin said a male suspect was seen running out of a back door of the home and over a nearby fence.

The suspect, later identified as Sare, was immediately "subdued" and taken into custody by a deputy who was in position for the perimeter, Chaffin said.

Sare was allegedly found to be in possession of various jewelry items, cash and household items, Chaffin said, and other possibly stolen items were recovered from the car.

All told, the value of the recovered items was estimated at $500, Chaffin said.

Sare may also allegedly be responsible for other recent burglaries in the area, according to Chaffin, who said the investigation was ongoing.
