UPDATED: Man Found Dead At Alberhill Park In Lake Elsinore

The man was unresponsive when discovered at approximately 4:35 p.m. Friday.

UPDATED AT 12:23 a.m. Aug. 24, 2013: Police were investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered at Alberhill Ranch Community Park in Lake Elsinore Friday afternoon, however the case is not a homicide.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Cpl. Robert Martinez, the man was unresponsive when discovered at approximately 4:35 p.m. 

The body was found lying face up on the grass near a parking lot by a patrol officer driving through the park, according to an update from the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

"The patrol officer stopped to check on the man and discovered he was deceased," the department stated in a news release. 

The park was cordoned off and investigators from the Lake Elsinore Police Department and the Coroner’s Bureau took over the investigation.

"The preliminary investigation indicates the man died from natural causes," the news release states. 

The sheriff's Central Homicide Unit was not called to the scene, confirmed Sgt. Lisa McConnell. In cases where investigators have suspicion of foul play, Central Homicide takes over.

The body was transported to the coroner's office but an exact cause of death has not been determined at press time. 

The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Alberhill Ranch Community Park is located on Lake Street and is the site of the Alberhill Ranch Boys and Girls Clubhouse.
