Man Found Dead Near Train Tracks

Corona resident David Chatelain, 57, was found Sunday, according to the coroner's office.

A Corona man was found dead near train tracks in the city, the coroner’s office is reporting.

David Chatelain, 57, was found Sunday, approximately 300 feet west of the tracks’ mile marker 29 in Corona, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office reported.

The office reports Chatelain’s time of death as noon Sunday but his time of injury is “unknown.”

An investigation is being conducted by the Corona Police Department.

No cause of death has been listed.

According to a Press-Enterprise report, a Corona police lieutenant said the death does not appear to involve foul play and it's possible that Chatelain may have been struck by a train.

I am disapointed in the Corona PD. We passed by the location at 12:30 and he wasn't even covered and there were no police near him. I don't agree with not covering him and leaving him "on display". My heart goes out to his family.

JC, you said there were no police near him? Were the police on the seen at 1230pm?

Probably, I doubt that he didn't see nor hear the train coming. Terribly sad.

When we drove by at 12:45, there were MANY police cars, coroner's van was there and the area was roped off with police tape. The body was covered with a white sheet.
