A man was found dead in Lake Elisnore Friday, after he apparently shot himself in an open field, coroner's officials report.

According to the Riverside County Coroner's Office, the 52-year-old man was found Friday around 8:42 a.m. in an open field adjacent to the 300 block of N. Lowell Street.

It's not yet known when the man died, according to the agency.  His identity is being withheld until family is notified.

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death, but officials did not have any more information to provide to Patch as of Friday afternoon.

Steve Newman February 15, 2014 at 05:13 PM
Steve- is is Walter. Jeffrey Walter Kleiner. And it is not a modern day witch hunt- but it rhymes with witch.

I find it hard to believe that the people posting such heartless and cruel comments here are adults. And if they are parents, willingly or not, their children will more than likely develop the same mind set ... hence the propagation of bullies, cruel pranksters and future adults with no compassion or humanity. When it's one of your family who has mental or emotional problems do you laugh and poke fun of them? Do they keep their problems a secret, suffering in silence, knowing that to express them will only invite your ridicule? Despair and sadness doesn't belong only to the suicidal, it's also disguised behind the snickered laughter of a ridiculous fool. Because (IMHO) if you find the news of anyone's death something to laugh about, you truly need to seek help of your own.

I hope cops investigate! This is awful.... I say fowl play.
ChrisG February 16, 2014 at 12:30 PM
@napa, why do you think foul play? At least he was courteous enough to do this in a place his family did not have to clean up. My condolences to his family.
ChrisG February 16, 2014 at 02:30 PM
@jesus, give it a rest. No need to copy this post in multiple articles. Thanks!
jesus February 16, 2014 at 02:40 PM
The need is quite obvious given all the hate thrown around this community. Thank You!

Could someone please let me know who keeps deleting this post, why, and how I can stop it? I’m new here and this my first post. I’m thinkin’ it’s the devil but I wanna be sure. Thanks! ORIGINAL POST BEFORE MYSTERIOUSLY DELETED (God’ll get you for that!): God asked me to post this for Him: To ALL Patch Haters: You ALL have a rare and tremendous opportunity to re-shape a community and quite possibly a state, nation, and world! All you have to do is pause for just 10 seconds before posting a hateful or hurtful comment and realize our hateful comments are really just a reaction to stuff in our own past or going on in our own life right now; and spreading that pain may make us feel a little better briefly but ultimately really serves no one including ourselves. Realize that considering how hateful this site has become your example will be obvious, noteworthy to the media, and could very possibly be the butterfly-effect that changes the world. You could look back in a few years at a more loving world and know you had a hand in starting it. I’m not suggesting that Newman and Kleiner become beer-buddies or Hidell stop posting funny quips; just pause before posting to remember you are setting the example for the world you’d like to see; and stop posting comments that are hateful or could be hurtful to others. If you feel you have to reply to a hateful/hurtful post just reply “I could really lay into you right now but I choose to set an example for an empathetic world” and reference or copy/paste this posting. Let’s just see what happens! Love each other, or at the very least tolerate and empathize with other’s pain, feelings, and difficulties. Oh, and one more thing, pray and meditate for a more empathetic world; it really does help. Trust Me! God out.
Steve Newman February 16, 2014 at 04:16 PM
Napamom- you did mean foul play- ? There were no birds involved.
Steve Newman February 16, 2014 at 04:20 PM
Jesus- wow speaking for god- even Kleiener would not do that and he is pretty arrogant. I have taken your suggestion under guidance- and my answer is- nope. I saw the Beatles the other night too, but I am not all lovey dovey. But thanks for you meaningless drivel-
Steve February 16, 2014 at 04:24 PM
It could be illegal, a sick bird.

I could really lay into you right now but I choose to set an example for an empathetic world. Your pain must be great and I sincerely wish only the best for you and hope one day soon you realize "All We Need Is Love". God bless you my brother.

Cause Jesus doesn't have bigger problems to fix besides scolding Patch posters......
susie-q February 16, 2014 at 05:20 PM
A man commits suicide the most desparate act a human can perform and people have nothing better to do than make jokes or talk crap. Where is your compassion. Not only for this person, but for the two other poor souls that did the same thing here in OUR town recently. There is definitely something wrong here. I know it is selfish, but also a cry for help.
jesus February 16, 2014 at 08:03 PM
Vic, my brother, I love you. Changing Haters into Lovers IS the biggest problem we face. Fixing this will fix a lot of our other problems. It has to start somewhere. When you do meet God one day please have more than a sarcastic quip to explain your careful consideration of His simple request.
Allen G February 16, 2014 at 08:06 PM
@Vic... the light of christ shines everywhere bro ;)
Vic February 16, 2014 at 09:10 PM
I'm not going to go back and forth with "jesus" and I agree with you , Allen G. No need for conversion here...but thanks for your concern! ;)

Steve Newman February 17, 2014 at 02:45 AM

Well whatever pain this gentleman was feeling he is no longer feeling. I hope he rest well and his family heals quickly… At least his fam did not find him ….
Steve Newman February 17, 2014 at 02:34 PM
Wonder if he had life insurance? There are suicide clauses that prevent settlement in case of a suicide.
Steve Newman February 17, 2014 at 07:29 PM
queenbetsey- who is Jeff Kliener you ask- be afraid, be very afraid.
Callitlikeitis February 18, 2014 at 10:27 AM
Another suicide by gun in Temecula yesterday. Thankfully no one else was injured. A man blew his brains out behind WALMART. Two dead in less than a week in Temecula but suicides are only reported when they occur in Lake Elsinore? Come on PATCH, report the news!
Steve Newman February 18, 2014 at 03:27 PM
Callitiketis- guess he didn't like Walmarts refund policy.
Chris Rowland February 18, 2014 at 08:07 PM
Dear Mr. Newman, You are an ass. And I am more than willing to kick you. If you want to make fun of my cousins sad demise, you should start to look over your shoulder you sorry piece of shit. Don't know you, and I am sure you are to much of a coward to use your real name, but know I am looking for you. I know he had ,"issues", and now you have issues. With me. Stand by.

ChrisG February 18, 2014 at 10:34 PM
@chrisR. Sorry for your loss. You will do well to stand by your family and off of the patch over the next short time. Blessings.
