Menifee Purse Snatcher In Custody

Video surveillance and witness statements helped sheriff's authorities identify Damar Sowell, 21, of Jurupa Valley, as the man suspect of being a purse snatcher.

A suspected purse snatcher who robbed a woman outside a Menifee business was in custody in connection with two robberies in San Bernardino County, a sheriff's sergeant said today.

Video surveillance and witness statements helped sheriff's authorities identify Damar Sowell, 21, of Jurupa Valley, as the man they suspect of grabbing an employee's purse Monday outside the business in 27000 block of McCall Boulevard and fleeing on foot through a parking lot, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Hoxmeier said.

A search warrant was served at a home in Jurupa Valley, but authorities learned Sowell apparently was arrested by Colton police on suspicion of committing two other robberies in San Bernardino County.
