Mother, Daughter Charged in Underaged Drinking Death

The two provided alcohol to a 19-year-old who later drove while drunk, crashed and killed her passenger.

A mother and daughter were charged with giving alcohol to a minor who then got drunk, crashed her car and killed her passenger.

The mother, Maria Ana Anguiano, 41, and her daughter, Desiree Anguiano, 20, face misdemeanor charges and, if convicted, could be sentenced to six months in jail, according to District Attorney spokesperson John Hall.

The family were having a party for the 20-year-old daughter in their French Valley home when they bought alcohol and gave it to the party-goers, including 19-year-old Ashly Nicole Rodriguez.

Rodriguez got drunk and drove away from the party with a friend, 19-year-old former student Aaron Ellison, in the passenger seat. She crashed the car, ejecting the passenger. He died from his injuries.

and faces 12 years in prison. She is scheduled for sentencing June 28 at the in French Valley.

“This case sadly is a perfect example of the tragic consequences that can happen when alcohol is provided to a minor,” said Riverside County District Attorney Paul Zellerbach.

“First, underage drinkers should not be drinking at all. Period. And second, adults, who should be the ones setting the proper example for the minors, also need to know and consider the consequences. They can be, and will be whenever possible, prosecuted for supplying alcohol to someone underage.”

This is why I am for DUI Checkpoints. If it saves one life, its worth it.

If there was a more effective way to apprehend drunk drivers would you be in favor of that method and abandon the the less effective method?

I am open to ANY way to apprehend drunk or drugs drivers. Even if its 4 in a checkpoint, or more patrols in our high rate areas. I agree to stopping every single person getting into a car after coming out of a bar, or place that serves liquor. My exhusband was a Fire Captain and if anyone of you against EVERY POSSIBLE way to apprehend these drivers, had to scrap up mothers, fathers, children, babies off the pavement with a shovel and try to get it in a cornoners bag you would all feel the same. Do a fireman, cops, coronors job just for 1 week, or work emergency for 1 week. Anyone worried about their constiutional rights to drink and drive and not have to be stopped going through a check point and not show a license for 30 seonds, is a drunk driver. If you want to fight for all your other rights go for it. But things in place to SAVE our LIVES? Seriously guys, you break my heart.
