A motorcyclist who allegedly ran a stop sign at Scott and Murrieta roads suffered major injuries Monday afternoon after colliding with a car.
The incident was reported at approximately 3 p.m. at the busy intersection, according to a report from the Menifee Police Department.
“The initial call was received of a motorcyclist that collided with a car and the motorcyclist was still down,” the report read.
Police say they arrived within minutes and found the downed motorcyclist who was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance as the Menifee Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team was activated and assumed the investigation.
“The investigation revealed the rider was westbound on Scott Road and it appears the rider failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. The other driver involved was traveling south on Murrieta Road and had proceeded into the intersection after stopping for the stop sign. That driver intended to complete a left turn onto eastbound Scott Road. The motorcyclist struck the side of the car,” the report read.
Both Murrieta and Scott roads remained closed for four and a half hours, while the investigation was conducted.
As of late Monday night, police reported the motorcyclist was listed in critical condition.
