Multiple Crashes Jam Freeway Traffic In Southwest Riverside County

Two crashes caused serious delays for southbound I-15 commuters Wednesday.

A vehicle that overturned on the southbound 15 Freeway at Diamond Drive in Lake Elsinore added to Wednesday’s already heavy traffic in Southwest Riverside County.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County firefighters responded to the solo-vehicle crash that injured two. Both people were transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries, according to a report from Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

Per unconfirmed reports, the crash caused damage to a freeway K-rail and traffic was backed up on the southbound I-15 to Central Avenue.

Earlier in the day, and jammed traffic throughout Southwest Riverside County.

The crash was reported at 7:49 a.m. at the Winchester off-ramp.

Traffic was backed up through Wildomar on the southbound 15 Freeway and several lanes were shut down at the crash scene. Traffic on the southbound 215 from Menifee to the split was also jammed.

All lanes on the 15 Freeway were finally reopened around 12:30 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol has described injuries in the jack-knife incident as "minor."

Yep, pretty soon they'll be making an additional lane on all the freeways. It'll be called the "idiot" lane with a top speed of 40. In that particular lane, it will be ok to text, do your make up, shave your beard, eat that dripping in & out burger, watch tv, & jump in the back seat to discipline your kids! The couple that got in a accident off diamond drive in lake Elsinore were my friends grandparents and they weren't driving fast what happen tire blew out and he lost control they are still in icu instead of saying negative give a prayer for them .

Gotta share - drove past this scene with all the emergency vehicles on-site...pretty gnarled vehicle. Surprised anyone lived! A tire blow-out at any speed can be nasty for sure! Glad to hear the injuries were minor to moderate.

A good reminder to check the tread on all tires & rotate often. Also actually take a moment to read that car book in your glove box & see what your particular tire air pressue should be. Get a tire pressure guage from the 99 cent store & check your pressure once a week. You'd be surprised how many people have blow outs due to lack of simple maintanence.
