Nine Arrested During DUI Crackdown In Lake Elsinore

The DUI checkpoint was located at the intersection of Collier Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Nine people were arrested this weekend as part of an effort to crack down on drunk driving in Lake Elsinore.

During a located at the intersection of Collier Avenue and Riverside Drive, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department arrested the following nine people for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and other related illegal activity:

  • Miguel Medina, 35, of Lake Elsinore
  • John Varian, 40, of Mira Loma
  • Manual Merida, 35, of Lake Elsinore
  • Carlos Brito, 45, of Murrieta
  • David Jackson, 34, of Lake Elsinore
  • Michael Rails, 45, of Lake Elsinore
  • Jose Ruvalcaba, 46, of Corona; wanted for a narcotics violation
  • Bobby Roberts, 42, of Escondido; wanted for a parole violation
  • Brittany Petcheil, 28, of Escondido; arrested for a controlled drug violation

"If you drive drunk, the Lake Elsinore Police Department will be looking for you. The department's message is very simple. Over the limit, under arrest,” said Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s Sgt. Marc Cloutier in a news release.

Also during the operation, 14 drivers were given field sobriety tests, five drivers were cited for various vehicle code violations, 29 drivers were cited for driving without a license or while their licenses were suspended. Each of these drivers' vehicles was subsequently towed.
