Ortega Highway Sees Another Injury Crash

The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on the Ortega Highway, east of the Candy Store.

A rush-hour traffic jam on the Ortega Highway Wednesday afternoon was the result of a vehicle collision that left two people injured, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

The crash was reported shortly before 4 p.m. on the Ortega Highway, east of the Candy Store.

The collision resulted in an overturned vehicle that left one person trapped for nearly 15 minutes, but firefighters used the jaws of life to rescue the victim from the wreckage.

Hendrickson said the injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment; their current condition is unknown.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
